D‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌iscussion Question
For this discussion question, you should read TWO things.
FIRST: In Module 1’s readings, we find a detailed definition of what critical thinking is. Go back to the readings from Module 1 to find that definition.
SECOND: For Module 6, you are asked read Chapter 1 and Chapter 6 of Angela Davis’ book Are Prisons Obsolete? You can find this in Module 6 under the you normally find readings: under the Module 6 link that says “Readings”
Then, answer these questions:
1. ‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌In what way does Angela Davis’ book Are Prisons Obsolete? embody the definition of critical thinking we discussed in Module 1?
2. State the main conclusion of Davis’ argument in that book, as well as three main premises from that argument.
3. And finally, respond to her argument. Is it valid? Does it make true points in its premises? Why or why not? (Remember, to either say a premise is true, OR to say it is false, you’ll have to go out and do research in reliable resources as discussed in Module 3.‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌)
